£3 million more in funding for local schools
Schools across the Witham constituency are set to receive almost £3 million more in cash as a result of representations made to the Government by Priti Patel, Conservative Party Parliamentary Candidate for Witham. Priti, who has held meetings with parents, governors and teachers from local schools and with Education Ministers worked to secure the cash injection and significant increase in per pupil funding. This means the 32 primary and 5 secondary schools in Witham will receive £53.9m in total funding in 2020/21, which is £2.8m more than the £51.1m received in 2019/20. Priti, who works closely with local schools to raise standards and improve education for local children, said:
“This is a significant amount of new money coming into our local schools and I am pleased to have been able to raise the need for more funding with the Government. This new money will make a real difference to our schools and enable them to invest more in the education of our young people.”
“Supporting our schools to raise standards has been a priority for me and I meet regularly with teachers, pupils and parents to back education in Witham. We now have more pupils attending good and outstanding schools than in 2010, which gives them a great start in life. If a majority Conservative Government is elected in the General Election, there will be £14 billion more in school funding and I will work hard for Witham to get its fair share.”
