Priti donates £500 to Fairleigh Hospice
The Member of Parliament for Witham, Priti Patel called in to the Farleigh Hospice Shop in Newland Street on Friday, to deliver a cheque for £500. Farleigh Hospice is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and the MP was keen to make her own personal donation to this excellent cause.
Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford provides care for any illness considered life-limiting, including cancer, neurological diseases and chronic heart, lung and renal disease. This is all done through their inpatient unit or in the patient’s home environment. Farleigh also supports family members whose loved ones are suffering serious illness and provides bereavement counselling.
Priti met up with Shop manager, Danielle Gadd to formally hand over the cheque and to catch up on the latest news. Commenting after her visit, Priti said: “Farleigh Hospice is an amazing organisation that provides care and support at what are the most stressful and sad times of our lives. I am a huge fan of what they do and it is amazing that they have been around for 40 years. I am more than pleased to do my bit to help them.”
Danielle Gadd, manager of the Farleigh Hospice shop said: “We are very grateful for Priti’s generosity. This is a special year for us and to have her be a part of it is a real bonus. She was here a couple of months ago to cut a celebratory 40th anniversary cake with us. It is great to have her support and lovely to continue building upon our mutual friendship, here at the Witham shop.”
