Priti meets up with charity dedicated to reducing the damage caused by traumatic childhoods
Responding to a request from one of her constituents, Priti Patel, the Member of Parliament for Witham has held a meeting with Alex Williamson, Campaign Officer at the WAVE Trust, to find out about the Trust’s campaign to reduce trauma in childhood. The constituent had himself suffered from such experiences, leading to lifelong mental health issues and he has had extensive support from the WAVE Trust.
During their meeting in central Witham on Saturday, Priti was given full details about the Trust’s campaigns and their work with individuals suffering from childhood trauma. In particular their 70/30 campaign, which aims to reduce trauma in childhood by 70 per cent by 2030.
Commenting after the meeting, Priti said: “The WAVE Trust is doing excellent work and I am more than happy to lend them my support. A happy childhood is something that every child should have because it serves as such an effective platform for growth into adulthood and to leading a fulfilling life. The Government is allocating some £300 million towards creating 75 family hubs across the country and the WAVE Trust should work closely with them.”
Alex Williamson said: “It was great to meet Priti and tell her all about what we do. Her interest and support are greatly appreciated. I look forward to liaising with her Office in the future.”
