Priti joins Incinerator campaigners in Coggeshall
Priti Patel MP has met with campaigners opposing the Rivenhalll Incinerator in Coggeshall. Priti attended a drop in session held by the Incinerator developers at Coggeshall Village Hall and then discussed the plans with residents objecting including misleading information being circulated by the developers. Priti, who has been a long-term campaigner against the incinerator, said:
“The latest set of plans for the incinerator are shocking and do nothing for the local community. For over a decade we have been campaigning and fighting these plan and will continue to do so. The environmental impact will be devastating and it will be local communities in this part of Essex who will face the consequences of these plans.”
“The proposals have changed since planning permission was first granted and with the Government’s new waste strategy and action on waste reduction we are all questioning the need for this site.”
“We have seen at these exhibitions the astonishing claims that the height of the chimney stack is similar to a telecommunications tower, even though it is 25% higher. The incinerator does not have a planning consent that matches the environmental consent but that is no excuse for the misleading information we have seen being circulated.”
Coggeshall Ward Councillor Lynette Bowers-Flint said:
“The incinerator will be a disaster for the communities in Coggeshall and throughout this part of Essex. The latest plans put forward by Gent Fairhead are unconvincing and full of errors. We need to see the Environment Agency and Essex County Council refuse the latest application and protect us from the incinerator.”
