Priti visits First Bus Essex to discuss constituent concerns
The Member of Parliament for Witham, Priti Patel, recently visited First Bus Essex at their depot in Chelmsford to meet with the Managing Director, Mr Piers Marlow, to discuss bus services in Witham.
During their meeting, Priti raised concerns from constituents with regards to the X20 bus route, which no longer serves the housing estate in Marks Tey and instead stopping directly on the A120. These changes have meant that local residents now need to cross the road at a dangerous crossing in order to reach the bus stop, as well as the wider knock-on impact with reduced services between Hatfield Peverel and Boreham.
Following the meeting, Mr Marlow took Priti on a tour around their depot to meet with some of the local bus drivers who operate on routes in the constituency, and to see the facilities they have onsite.
Following the meeting, Priti said: ‘It was good to visit the First Bus Essex depot in Chelmsford and meet with Mr Marlow to discuss both local concerns following route changes in the constituency, as well as some of the challenges the sector is experiencing. Local bus services are vital for communities across the constituency, and it is important that we continue to see investment and support to maintain much needed local transport links.
Many of my constituents are concerned about some of these services, such as the X20 route and the reduction of some services. I have raised these important issues with Mr Marlow, and I will continue making relevant representations on behalf of my constituents.’
