Priti visits local construction equipment firm TCP Group in Maldon
The Member of Parliament for Witham, Priti Patel, has paid a visit to the Headquarters of the TCP Group on the Quayside Industrial Site in Maldon. TCP specialises in high quality plant hire, task lighting and compaction and is pioneering the use of hydrogen powered construction equipment, which it is hoped will take over from diesel equipment on most building sites by 2035.
Jim Irvine, Operations and Development Director, hosted Priti’s visit and tour of the premises and gave her a detailed outline of TCP’s business footprint with particular emphasis on their growing use of zero-emissions hydrogen powered equipment.
After her tour, Priti said: “This part of Essex has experienced high levels of housing and population growth in recent years but the quality of infrastructure and investment in new public services has not always kept pace with growing demands. The investment by TCP into high quality plant and equipment hire will catalyse economic growth and investment in this part of Essex which is much needed as key schemes such as the Lower Thames Crossing and A12 expansion come together. My visit today provided a tremendous insight into the technology and the skills available locally to help develop the next generation of infrastructure projects in our country.”
Jim Irvine, Operations and Development Director said: “It was a pleasure to give Priti the tour and to provide her with a positive, real-world view of our industry. Hydrogen is going to get a lot of focus in Essex over the next couple of years and the Lower Thames Crossing project will fast-track the development of a hydrogen ecosystem in the Thames Estuary, with the potential for growing the economy.”
