New Indian Restaurant in Tiptree gets formal opening from local MP
The new Indian restaurant, 7 Spices at the New Times, 87 Maldon Road, Tiptree has been given a VIP send off with the help of Witham MP, Priti Patel. Priti called in on Friday 14th October to formally declare the new restaurant open, at a special ribbon cutting ceremony and to meet the owner, Satin Singh.
7 Spices specialises in Indian cuisine and has taken over the catering side of the business on the New Times site. As well as offering an extensive menu of tasty Indian dishes, the pub side of the business also serves a wide range of real ales, including three local ones and ten different premium draft lagers.
Before performing the ribbon cutting ceremony at the front doors of the building, Priti was given a tour of the premises, by Satin Singh the owner, who also owns and manages the Bull at Great Totham. The venue has undergone an extensive refurbishment and modernisation. Priti also had the opportunity to sample some Indian cuisine especially prepared for the occasion.
Commenting after the ceremony, Priti said: “It was pleasure to be here to give 7 Spices at the New Times a good send off. I think there is a definite need for an Indian restaurant in the Tiptree area and I was very impressed with the menu that I was shown and with the food that I was lucky enough to try! It was also very good to see that the community element of the establishment, the pub, is part of the new look. I hope that local people, whether they want a pint or a full meal, will find it a very pleasing place to spend their leisure time.”
Satin Singh, owner of 7 Spices at the New Times said; “It was great to have Priti join us for the opening ceremony. I very much enjoyed meeting her and talking through the development process the new pub and restaurant has been through, as well as outlining our plans for the future.”
