Massive funding boast for rebuilding Witham’s schools
Local MP Priti Patel has expressed her delight as schools across the Witham constituency are set to benefit from a share of the funds from the Government’s school rebuilding programme.
Six schools are set to receiving millions of pounds of funding from the Government to rebuild or improve their school buildings, including those affected by RAAC. Priti has campaigned for new investment for local schools, including meeting with the Secretary of State and ministers at the Department for Education and raising this issue Parliament. The schools that will receive funding to supports rebuilding plans are St Andrews Junior School in Hatfield Peverel, Baynards primary school in Tiptree, Honywood secondary school in Coggeshall, Thurstable secondary school in Tiptree. Southview special school in Witham will also receive funding for rebuilding and Stanway Fiveways to invest in their buildings. Thurstable, Honywood and St Andrews have been affected by RAAC and have had temporary measures put in place.
Priti said: “Today’s announcement will be welcomed by teachers, pupils and parents at the schools that will receive this new funding. I have campaigned hard to secure more funding for schools in the Witham constituency and am delighted that the Government has listened and made funds available, especially to those most badly affected by RAAC.”
