Priti Patel thanks voters for her fourth General Election victory
Priti Patel has thanked voters across the Witham constituency for electing her to represent them in the House of Commons, at a fourth consecutive election. First elected in 2010, Priti has now been re-elected as Witham’s MP in the 2015, 2017 and 2019 General Elections. This time Priti secured 32,876 votes, which gave her a 24,082 majority and two-thirds of the total votes cast.
Priti said: “I am grateful for voters across the Witham constituency for once again placing their trust and confidence in me to represent them. It is a great privilege to be able to continue to be a strong voice for all communities across this wonderful part of Essex and carry on working to improve our local infrastructure and public services. Throughout the campaign, I have received a warm welcome from so many people and I am delighted that lots of voters who were not traditional Conservative voters have supported me because of my local record and my commitment to getting Brexit done.”
“Across the country the results have shown that the British people have chosen to end the gridlock on Parliament and elect a one nation majority Conservative Government, led by Boris Johnson. I look forward to playing my part in getting Brexit done and unleashing the potential of our great country.”
“As Witham’s MP, I will continue to lead the campaigns to get our roads upgraded in ways that are sympathetic to our communities, to get more police on our streets, to secure more funding for our schools and I will carry on with my work to get more local NHS services provided in our communities, including the new healthcare centre in Witham. I will also keep on holding local councils to account for their housing plans and the impact they will have.”
“I have been fortunate to have a strong team of activists and supporters in Witham who have worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks to help with the campaign and I am grateful to them for their amazing efforts to get me re-elected.”
“I would like to thank the police and everyone involved in the organisation of the election in Witham, who have kept voters safe and ensured that the election and count ran smoothly and efficiently. I also pay tribute to the other candidates who stood in the election in Witham and wish them well for the future.”
