Local MP and town pays tribute to the Fallen
The MP for the Witham constituency, Dame Priti Patel, was honoured to take part in the annual Remembrance commemorations on Sunday 10th November.
Priti joined Witham town residents and members of the Witham branch of the Royal British Legion for the towns own remembrance parade in the afternoon. This was Priti’s first remembrance march as President of the Royal British Legion Witham branch, and the local MP was honoured to walk alongside former service personal who served in previous conflicts. Priti laid wreaths at the memorial site alongside dignitaries, community leaders, service personnel and veterans.
Priti said: “Remembrance Day is a solemn and poignant event in our nations calendar, but one also filled with pride and community spirit. It was an honour to join residents in Witham to commemorate our veterans, armed services personnel at home and abroad, and those brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice for King and country.
I would like to thank the organisers of the events, the police and all those who attended to pay tribute and thanks to those who gave so much so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have today. Lest we forget.”
