Priti visits Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Support Centre
The MP for Witham, Priti Patel has been given a guided tour of the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Support Centre on The Street in Hatfield Peverel. The much-postponed visit, originally intended to take place two years ago but re-scheduled several times due to Covid restrictions, finally happened on Friday 7th October.
Hazel Keane, Helen Rollason Cancer Charity’s Support Services Manager, showed the MP all the facilities available at the Centre and gave her a full briefing on the services that are offered there. The Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre, named after the BBC television presenter who sadly died from cancer, provides support for patients with all forms of cancer, whether they are recently diagnosed or are further on in their cancer journey.
The Centre provides complementary therapies, manual lymphatic drainage, counselling and access to support groups.
Speaking after her visit, Priti said: “I very much appreciated my visit and I am grateful to the team at the Centre for showing me the excellent work they do for people with cancer. A cancer diagnosis is a very low point in anyone’s life and the tremendous support that is offered by the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is a vital resource for anyone in that situation, whether it be for complementary therapies or just a place to call in for a cup of tea.
”I will be exploring ways to help the Centre with its fundraising activities through my office and social media.”
Hazel Keane, Support Services Manager at the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre said: “It was a pleasure to have Priti here and we very much enjoyed her visit. We were able to talk her through the work we do and the many challenges we face. It is very important that key local stakeholders understand our work and know when to recommend us, if we are needed.”
