Update meetings with local GP surgeries
Priti Patel, the Member of Parliament for Witham, recently visited both the Coggeshall Surgery and Douglas Grove Surgery in Witham where she met with practice managers, GP partners and staff to discuss the current provision of healthcare services locally in the community, and some of the current challenges that are being faced.
During her visits, Priti congratulated the teams on their 2023 GP Patient Experience survey results which saw Coggeshall Surgery receive a 87% overall good experience score and Douglas Grove Surgery receive a 61% score. Alongside the GP visits, Priti also met with Mr Dan Doherty, Alliance Director at Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, for a productive discussion on a number of local matters including the progress on plans for a new Witham Health Centre, ongoing work to tackle the NHS backlog and the impact on industrial action on the provision of healthcare to constituents.
After the meetings, Priti said: ‘It was great to visit both Coggeshall Surgery and Douglas Grove Surgery to personally congratulate them on their recent 2023 GP Patient Experience survey results. These two surgeries are leading by example in the quality of care they provide and appointment accessibility. On the latter point specifically, it is very important that constituents are able to access face-to-face appointments with their GP surgeries easily.
I also had the opportunity to catch up with Dan Doherty from the Mid & South Essex ICB to discuss the progress towards a new health centre for Witham Town. As ever, I am grateful to Dan and his team for their work on this important issue, which will deliver much needed enhancements in care and services locally.’
