Witham MP visits Templars Academy
Witham MP, Priti Patel, popped into Templars Academy on Thursday afternoon to meet with pupils and teachers from across year groups [Thursday 31 January 2019].
Priti spoke with pupils about their school projects and their ideas for Get Witham Reading 2019. First launched in 2012, Get Witham Reading is now in its eighth consecutive year and encourages children, their parents and teachers to participate in reading activities. Priti will be publically announcing the date for this year’s Get Witham Reading event soon.
During her visit, Priti also had the opportunity to speak with teachers about school improvement and issues relating to special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Following her visit, Priti said:
“It was a pleasure visiting Templars Academy and speaking with pupils about their exciting plans for this year’s Get Witham Reading. It is great to see so many young pupils enthusiastic about reading and discussing their favourite books. I look forward to visiting Templars Academy during Get Witham Reading later this year to join in with some of their activities.”
“I also spoke with teachers at the school and one of the biggest issues raised was SEND provision. I am following up on these issues with both the local authority and Government to ensure that our local SEND services are high quality and that investment is focused on improving support and outcomes for children and young people with SEND needs.”
