Priti receives Damehood from HRH The Princess Royal
Priti Patel, MP for Witham, has received her Damehood at a ceremony in Windsor from HRH The Princess Royal. Attending the investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle with her parents, husband and son, Priti received the honour in recognition of the public and political service she has given to the country. Priti has served as Witham’s Member of Parliament for over 13 years and held ministerial office under three Prime Ministers.
Priti said: “Serving the country and my constituents is the honour of my lifetime and to be recognised for my work is a very special moment for me. I have always had a strong belief in the importance of public service and it has been a privilege to work in Government to make our country safer and more secure, defend our national interests, and stand up for the part of Essex I am proud to represent.”
“Receiving this honour is deeply humbling and I am grateful to my constituents for the opportunity they have given to me to serve them.”
Commenting on the investiture ceremony, Priti said: “It was inspiring to be joined at the ceremony by so many other people who were being recognised for the work they do and the service they have given to our country.”
“It was a wonderful ceremony and a special day not only for me but for my family, who have always supported and encouraged me.”
