Priti reminds residents of cold weather payments

Witham MP Priti Patel is reminding residents that they may be eligible for financial support through Cold Weather Payments following the recent poor weather. Recipients of Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseekers’ Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance and Universal Credit may be eligible to receive an extra £25 per week to help with heating costs. Priti said:

“The recent stormy and cold weather has caused disruption and inconvenience to many. For those on low incomes worried about heating their homes cold weather payments have been triggered and those eligible should be receiving extra money.”

“I would encourage all residents to stay warm and look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours and family members.”
