Supporting local shops on Small Business Saturday
Witham MP Priti Patel celebrated Small Business Saturday 2023 in her constituency by meeting with a number of local shopkeepers.
Priti has always been a strong champion of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), which are responsible for providing around 80% of local jobs. She regularly visits local businesses and makes representations on their behalf directly with Government Ministers and in Parliament, including calling for more help and support for businesses through lower taxes and regulatory reforms.
Priti said: “Small Business Saturday allows us to recognise and celebrate the brilliant local businesses which we all love. Small and medium size businesses are the lifeblood of the Witham constituency with around 80% of employment coming from them.
Growing up in my parent’s own small business, I know the challenges that business owners face, and it’s always been a priority for me to support and stand up for them in Parliament. That’s why I have been calling on the government to reduce red tape on SME’s and to lower the taxes they must pay so they can flourish and grow.
I look forward to visiting and supporting more small businesses next year and I urge any business who might need my assistance to please get in touch with me.”
