Priti gives backing to local grassroots sports investment
Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham has given her backing to local grassroots sports investment as part of a recent meeting with The Football Foundation at Witham Sports Ground.
The Football Foundation is the country’s largest sports charity, with their funding coming from the Premier League, the FA as well as the Government, and they aim to transform the landscape of grassroots sports in England.
Priti was keen to raise a number of local topics with representatives from the Football Foundation. This included a discussion on overall investment in the Witham constituency. and a number of specific local projects to improve access to quality places to play for local residents. As part of these discussions, Priti flagged the new 3G pitch being planned at New Rickstones Academy which would help deliver fantastic new sporting infrastructure for local school children.
Priti said “It was a real pleasure to meet the team from the Football Foundation. I was pleased to discuss how we can work together to support local grassroots sports clubs in the constituency. Local clubs are lifelines to so many people both for physical and social activity. The discussions I had with the Football Foundation about supporting local projects were productive and I look forward to working with them going forward.”
