Priti backs Witham Cricket Club
Witham MP Priti Patel has shown her support for Witham Cricket Club in a visit to their grounds at The Park on Maldon Road.
Priti toured the Pavilion and met with Club Chairman, John Chick, Club Secretary, Andy Wilson and Club Treasurer, Caroline Godwin, who discussed the Club’s current planning application for an improved practice facility with new nets. The Club has over 120 members playing and training at the ground and the new training nets will assist them to increase participation in the game.
Priti said: “We’ve had a fantastic summer of cricket with the men’s and women’s Ashes series and clubs like Witham provide facilities for people of all ages to play. The Club have ambitious plans to support cricket in our local community and I was pleased to discuss these with John, Andy and Caroline.”
“I was interested in the Club’s planning application to improve their training facilities and am working with them to get a decision from Braintree District Council as quickly as possible. The Club need these new nets and I see no reason for the delay in permission being given.”
