Priti raises constituents’ Probate Service concerns in Commons
During a debate on the Probate Service in the House of Commons (28.03.23), Witham MP Priti Patel has asked Justice Minister Mike Freer MP to address the concerns constituents have raised with her about delays in probate applications being processed.
Priti said: “Bereaved families in this part of Essex have been experiencing delays with the processing of their probate applications and difficulties getting issues resolved. I know of the extra stress this causes at a time when families are trying to get the affairs of their deceased relatives in order.
“After I raised these cases in the House of Commons, the Minister gave assurances on new actions that are being taken to speed up the probate application process, reduce delays and help applicants to provide and submit information as early as possible. While these changes will not help those already affected, I hope that the measures the Minister has commented on will make a difference to other probate applicants in the future.”
