Priti Patel visits Provide HQ
Priti Patel, the Member of Parliament for Witham, visited Provide at their headquarters in the Colchester Business Park on Friday 10th March 2023 to meet with their chief executive, Mark Heasman, for an update on their work in the Witham constituency. They are a social enterprise company that provides health and social care services in the community.
Their discussion focused on the work Provide undertakes for the NHS in Mid & South Essex with ASD & ADHD assessments, as well as speech and language therapy support and treatment. Updates were provided on waiting times for assessments, and the ongoing work to tackle the backlogs through provision of extra weekend clinics as well as expanding the training of existing clinicians. Provide is also introducing a digital pathway to reduce waiting time for treatments. Although only in its early stages, it is already producing very promising results.
During the visit, Priti was also shown the recently completed in-patient facilities at Provide HQ by Paul Cooke, Managing Director of Provide Wellbeing, which offer self-pay health and wellbeing services such as vasectomies, minor skin surgery and carpal tunnel decompression.
Priti said: “It was good to meet Mark and to discuss their important work in the Witham constituency linked with ASD, ADHD as well as speech and language therapy. As with many parts of the NHS and healthcare sector, the pandemic had an obvious impact on delivery of services but it was very reassuring to hear of the efforts being undertaken to tackle the current wait times.
I was also very interested to see their new inpatient facilities and services, delivered by Provide Wellbeing, which were most impressive and will offer greater choice for my constituents.”
