The MP for Witham, Priti Patel, has paid a return visit to Silver End Youth Club for 11-19 year olds with a personal donation to the Club.  Having previously met Leila Hobart, one of the directors of the Club in December, Priti assured her that she would support the Club in securing a range of practical resources and items that it needed.

Priti personally donated a range of new items including Play Station games, supplies of art, craft and design books, pens and creative items. She has also donated a wide variety of drinks, juices, biscuits and mugs to the Club.

She contacted local organisations with lists of the items the Club needed and several larger items including a 24 inch television for gameplay and a Chromebook were  donated.  Farleigh Hospice Shop in Witham, another local organisation supported by Priti, generously provided Wii consoles, notepads, pens, books and board games. Priti arranged for these items to be delivered to Silver End Youth Club and brought many of them with her when she revisited on Thursday 9th February 2023.

After her visit, Priti said: “During my first visit in December, I was heartened by the great job Leila and her colleagues are doing in getting Silver End Youth Club off the ground but it was clear that they needed a lot of support and, in particular, donations of equipment, games and refreshments.  All these items were needed to provide an environment for local youngsters to get greater enjoyment out of their Thursday evening visits.  I’m pleased that I have been able to help them.

“The Club provides an excellent focal point for young people to gather and enjoy themselves rather than being out on the streets.  Any young person attending now has a wide range of fun things to do including, table football, pool (and a variety of other table-top games), various floor games, computer games, board games and art supplies and equipment.”

Leila Hobart, Director of the Silver End Youth Club said: “We are very grateful for Priti’s continued support and enthusiasm.  On her first visit, she stayed for a long time and genuinely seemed to enjoy hearing all about our efforts and to appreciate what we are trying to do.  Seeing her back here so soon and with a wide variety of very useful donations is a particular pleasure.”
