Priti Patel opens new Witham Hub premises in the Grove Centre
The MP for Witham, Priti Patel has formally opened the new premises of the Witham Hub. In a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday 11th March, Priti declared the Hub open in the Grove Centre at Unit 17 & 17a The Grove, Witham. Priti was joined for the ribbon cutting by the High Sheriff of Essex, Simon Brice DL.
The Witham Hub is a well-known local charity dedicated to promoting social inclusion for the benefit of the people living in the Town itself and in surrounding areas. They also work hard to develop the skills of individuals who are socially and economically disadvantaged. The Hub, based for many years in the Newland Shopping Centre, has taken larger premises in the Grove Centre, with additional meeting facilities on the first floor.
Speaking after the ceremony, Priti said: “It was a pleasure to be here for the opening and to get the Witham Hub off to a good start in its new premises. The work that the Hub has been doing in the community over many years is exceptional. They are the glue that holds the community together and they have been particularly effective during the worst parts of the pandemic. I would also highly commend the hard work they have put in to making these new premises ready for opening, so quickly.”
Tina Townsend, Chair of the Hub’s board of Trustees and the founder of the original project said: “Priti has a long history of supporting us and it was very fitting that she has been with us for the opening of our new premises today. The expansion is bittersweet, it is sad that we are so needed in this day and age. We are excited to be able to offer much more in the additional space and we feel it will prove to be an excellent base for our work in the future.”
