Priti Meets up with CHP housing association to hear all about their work in Witham
Priti Patel, the MP for Witham, has held a first meeting with Mary Gibbons, the Chief Executive of CHP, the charitable housing association, to find out more about its work in Witham.
The two met on Saturday (19th June) at the Witham Hub meeting room in the Newlands Centre and Mary was able to introduce Priti to CHP’s mission and objectives which include providing comfortable, safe and secure homes for their current and future customers. CHP, which is based in Chelmsford, manages some 10,500 affordable homes for both rent and sale, 168 of which are in the Witham Constituency, with another 181 under development. They also discussed all the key current issues in housing.
Commenting after the meeting, Priti said: “I was very interested to hear of the hard work CHP are doing and the scale of their property portfolio in the Witham constituency. Their efforts to build strong communities where people feel safe and supported are of huge importance in the current climate where many people feel vulnerable and isolated. I will be working with CHP in the future to ensure that social housing is given the priority it needs.”
Mary Gibbons said: “It was great to meet Priti and bring her up to speed on what we are doing to support our customers, invest in communities and provide more high- quality affordable homes. Good lines of communication with key stakeholders such as local MPs and opinion formers is vital for our work. It was also a useful opportunity for me to provide feedback to Government on the key housing issues affecting our work. I look forward to working more closely with Priti in the future.”
