Priti welcomes third Witham Industrial Watch BID mandate
Witham MP, Priti Patel, has warmly welcomed the vote in support of Witham Industrial Watch (WIW) receiving a third Business Improvement District mandate. Firms based on the industrial estates in Witham have voted overwhelmingly for the BID mandate to continue.
Priti, who has consistently worked with WIW to support businesses in Witham said: “The vote in support of the BID by a huge margin means that WIW has another five year mandate to continue with its comprehensive programme of measures to support businesses that are based on the industrial estates in Witham. There is no doubt that WIW have established themselves as champions of our industrial estates and this latest BID vote recognises the excellent work they have been doing. This is very much an ongoing project and I will continue to give WIW my full support.”
Major progress has been made by WIW during the 2014-19 BID period, including the appointment of a second estate manager, reduction in crime through the installation of 82 CCTV cameras and 9 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras (BID is now considered a low crime industrial area by Essex Police), new signage and safety improvements.
WIW’s programme for 2019-2024 includes replacement of CCTV cameras on the estates with more up to date equipment, upgrading of ANPR cameras as needed, further funding for additional security measures and more estate signage. They will also be working to improve traffic flow and addressing current parking issues by establishing working partnerships with North Essex Parking Partnership and Essex County Council Highways.
