Priti calls for better funding for Essex

Witham MP Priti Patel has called on the Treasury to review funding made available for schools, health services and the police in Essex as part of the forthcoming comprehensive spending review which sets multi-year spending parameters. Funding per capital from central government for those services is lower than in other parts of the country and Priti has been lobbying ministers across the Government hard to redress these disparities. Priti said:

“Public services in Essex perform well on the modest budgets they receive and despite the cash coming from central Government being lower than in other parts of the country. However, as demands rise and more people need bespoke support for children with special needs and adults with complex health needs we need to see more resources coming to our County.”

“I have been lobbying ministers across the Government to look at providing more funding for key public services like the police, our schools and healthcare services. As the Treasury plan public spending over the next few years they must consider the needs of our County and I will continue to make the case for Essex.”
